Protected signing hardware

Keep signing keys
in protected hardware.

The desktop configuration uses a YubiKey 2 Hardware Security Module (HSM) to keep signing keys stored in hardware. A protected HSM Vault adds physical protection with a high-security keyed lock.

The desktop stand can be bolted down for additional physical security.

Protected Legacy Format

A new credential.
The same access-system identity.

During migration, the desktop workflow can read a legacy card identifier and insert it into the new PIV card certificate. This supports PKI protection while preserving the identifier used by the access system.
